    Frankly I we can easily flatten even worse but if I has a shop doing morticing work and time was expensive I would choose another tool, nowdays though most proffessional woodworkers use a mortice drill and just cleanup with chisels. For hobby woodworkers this is just sweet for the price and made in Europe too. I just ordered a Narex mortice chisel 12mm for my new project.

    Here in Portugal second hand RAS's are easy to find and relatively cheap. I recently bought an Omga 600. This is an industrial quality machine. Eight bearings, bronze bushings, and ultra sturdy construction. New 8000 Euros, second hand in the low hundreds. There are fashions in woodworking machines, presently the RAS is as out of fashion as a mullet cut.

    Mate, you have helped me fix an issue with my TS-LS Positioner since I bought the darn thing 4+ years ago. It kept binding towards the front. No matter what I did and who I spoke to (including Incra Support), I could not get it to stop binding. I was tightening the middle arm when it was fully extended. I had to rely on the tighening clamp to square up my fence, which was not always 100% great. Thanks so much and I have no idea why it took RUclips so long to suggest this video when I searched for this type of videos every 6-9 months looking for suggestions. Thanks a million!

    Used this as my very first print on my S1. Strangely, my .100mm and .120mm fit nicely, but the .110mm seemed tighter than the .120mm. For the 3mm basswood I used, I think anything between .100mm and .120mm would probably work well enough to make me happy. Thanks for sharing this video!

    If you have grown up using a radial arm saw, then you know how good it is for ripping. It is also extremely safe when used in ripping mode. See video entitled "Push Board for Ripping on Radial Arm Saw". So, I suggest putting both the mitre saw and that that humungous cabinet saw in the background in storage. Think of the room that would create in your shop.

    As my wife says, things are just a toaster, and sometimes the toast burns. That seems simplistic but she is not wrong. With that said, 170 pounds for a capacitor and not in stock for overnight? That is price gouging and poor service. Yes, since the customer is no longer needed in today's corporate scheme, this is what we should expect going forward, and I think it is going to get worse. Made in Germany, with worldwide parts is the way out of companies squeezing out every P from the buying public, without regard to reputation or quality. Sad, but true.

    Graham - is the 'round over' router a special router or just a small router with a round over bit in it and if so which make and model, secondly, I have wet the wooden blanks as your channel suggests to 'pop the grain' before sanding and after a couple of hours to dry, I have found the wood has gone a purply black colour and looks like a mold of some kind - I only used fresh water, - did \i leave it too long before sanding (3 hours) what have I done wrong - i can probably sand it out but something has gone wrong - can you help ta Geoff

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop 26 дней назад

      Hi Geoff, yes, bang on. I am referring to a round over / ovolo bit in the router. The staining on the timber will be from a contaminent in the timber, not in the water which should sand out quite easy, had it myself with Oak especially a few times.

    I’m familiar with working with a radial arm saw. Truly a very versatile machine. With that said there some setups I would never recommend. When my father passed I had access to his extensive array of power tools to rehome. I just couldn’t justify bringing one home, my garage shop just doesn’t have room for all the goodies available. There were tools I deemed of more value to my shop. With all that said, if could I would own a radial arm saw. When I bought my miter saw, a compound miter saw was not even imagined yet.

    After watching both parts, I can say this is a beautiful job. Well done. The only tiny comment I will make is I thought only Americans said ‘off of’. In the context you used it, it was almost OK. But really the ‘of’ is completely redundant. You could use ‘from’ which I personally think goes nicely with a cup of coffee and a small piece of cake😀

    I’ve got the RO90 too - I “hate” sanding, but the Rotex makes it kinda fun.. because it’s A LOT quicker than any other sanders out there. The RO90 shines on detail work, windows, doors, furniture and narrow pieces. As mentioned by another one here -try holding it by balancing the rear end where the dust hose attaches with one hand and wrap your other hand around the front in Rotex/orbital mode. With the delta pad it’s easy with one hand. Well and quickly done with the chair!

  • @extremewoodworker
    @extremewoodworker Месяц назад

    I have the RO 90 and it is a great sander for certain jobs such as the chair but not so much for large flat surfaces. I have always found holding it by the handle as a bit awkward and unbalanced and have discovered that holding the top with my left hand with the right hand holding on to the hose connection area is much better. It also permits use of the extraction hose instead of the bag. Hope this helps. Steve
